A NYE OOTN should be nothing short of fierce and fab-u-lous. I really do believe that New Year’s Eve is one of the most opportune times to dress in dramatic fashions without apology. While my New Year’s Eve plans are a little more low-key this year than in past years, I still fully intend to dress to impress because I can, friends (and so can you, for that matter).
That being said, I revived some old favourites with some recent fab finds to create a 1920s inspired NYE OOTN worthy of any soirée – whether at a hall, a club or a friend’s fancy pants dinner party.
You may recognize this shoe and clutch combo from Sophisticated grunge. Among my sizable shoe and moderate purse collections there’s little else in my wardrobe (at the moment, at least) that pairs so well together, so I couldn’t resist incorporating the two as part of this NYE OOTN.
I purchased this jumpsuit from Dynamite back in spring and I’ll admit it’s very fitting for any sort of dress-up occasion. The next best thing to a dress for a NYE OOTN is, without question, a jumpsuit – particularly if you’re not quite in the mood for exposing your stems.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’re likely familiar with my faux fur obsession this season. To me, faux fur is all about the drama, so when it comes to a NYE OOTN I see no better time to wear it. If you’ve never worn a faux fur vest, New Year’s Eve is a great time to do so!
And if you need just one more reason to wear faux fur this NYE, know that it’s a great way to tackle the cold without forgoing style.
Of course, when it comes to a NYE OOTN paying mind to jewellery is of the utmost importance. Upon receiving this vintage statement necklace on Christmas Eve from my cousin, my mind’s eye was immediately drawn to this then-budding getup. For a more dramatic look I paired it with layered necklaces that are fun to play with, if nothing else (but obvi they look good, too).
The cherry on top of this 1920s meets modern glam NYE OOTN, however, has to be this flapper-esque hat that I accidentally stumbled upon in Forever 21. While it’s meant to be pulled down to the forehead, I am the girl with bangs after all – but, eh, it’s fash-un, is it not? The last time I checked, rules are hardly existent when it comes to fashion.
