It’s that time of year again – the last leg of winter (or so we all hope). Despite an exceptionally mild season, I find myself all about a winter coat OOTD that’s worthy of my Insta feed, ya feel?
While winter often necessitates function over fashion I’m still finding ways to inject some sort of style into my winter coat wearing days as too are fellow fashion blogger gal pals Mitra of Leopard Couture and Jes of Brash & Brilliant. We’ve teamed up to showcase our go-to winter coat looks. You can check out Mitra’s look here and Jes’s look here.
And, of course, you can check out mine below!
For me, a winter coat OOTD begins with a big, patterned scarf. This scarf was actually gifted to me years back and I’ll likely never part ways with it (or, at least, I’ll try not to).
While I’m rarely one to get too matchy-matchy I couldn’t resist this matching mitt and toque combo from H&M. Coordinating winter accessories is a great way to draw the eye away from your otherwise Michelin man looking self. Stick to one “stand out” piece – in this case, that would be my scarf – and complement said piece with matching accessories.
And never, ever underestimate the power of a good pair of sunnies. Sunglasses are needed just as much in winter as they are in summer. This particular pair is from polette eyewear (insert heart eyes emoji here). Equally as cool is this necklace which was, in fact, a vintage find – swoon!
For this particular look I chose to to wear my Sorels – kids size 4, small feet win! – as these photos were taken in snow (or, at least, what little there was) en route to the Blue Mountains for a mid-week snowboarding getaway. Of course, as both Mitra and Jes prove, boots aren’t always a necessary accompaniment to a winter coat.
