Every few weeks I find myself eager to try new beauty products. Part of living in NYC means that just about every beauty product is at my disposal (and as you can imagine, this puts somewhat of a strain on my wallet). That’s why I’ve been eager to do a drugstore beauty haul. Not only are the brands that are available in the States wider-ranging than those available in Canada, but so too are they more cost-effective than Sephora brands, too (though stay tuned for a Sephora haul!)
With this in mind, the turn of the season also means making adjustments to my beauty regimen as I typically opt for fewer layers of makeup come the hot weather. And so I begin with the base of my face.
Though I typically opt for a full-coverage foundation, the combination of the heat with my oily skin makes it difficult to keep up appearances throughout the day. Lo and behold a BB cream. I searched high and low for an SPF-free formula and (very thankfully) discovered L’Oréal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream. The quick take: it really is magic ~lol~.
But for days when I do opt for a full-coverage foundation, I want to make sure it sticks as well as possible. Up until this point, I’ve yet to incorporate a primer into my beauty regimen, so I’ll keep ya Insta-posted as I test this baby out.
I was first introduced to Milani by Carli Bybel wayyy back when. This is the first product of theirs that I’ve purchased, but I figure a brow gel is a fairly safe bet – and one that I can’t live without.
Jaclyn Hill raved about this bronzer in her March Favourites video, so when I spotted it at my local CVS, I couldn’t resist the buy. While the shade range is fairly limited to those with fair to light skin tones, I don’t mind the neutral base with my olive skin tone – in fact, I prefer it for contouring. I often find that warmer bronzers can easily look muddy if not blended properly. Not only does this bronzer apply rich and silky, but it also smells like a tropical beach paradise!
And last – but certainly not least – is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Mum’s the Word. This Sally Hansen line is my favorite at the moment. As I rebuild my nail polish collection, I’ve taken to nudes and neutrals. This particular hue is a pastel yellow, so I think it’s fun for summer while still in the neutral-like family.
Have you used any of these products? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
