Life’s beachin’, ain’t it? Everyday beachwear is a very real (and very welcomed) aspect of summer (in my opinion, that is). As a Canadian I feel remarkably deprived of sufficient sun exposure year-round, so when I can expose my skin to those oh-so-beautiful rays of UV I’m all about that functional beachwear. You already know that I’m a mega-fan of a simple summer OOTD and I find that everyday beachwear falls into a similar category.
You can bet that when I saw this cover-up at the Gap, I couldn’t walk away. I may be embellishing the truth every so slightly. I’ll admit, it likely wouldn’t have came across my radar if not for the reliable eye of my bf. I love it’s simplicity and shape – it’s airy without overexposing those, err, parts I’d much rather keep hidden. You can’t beat a neutral colour combo either. Come cooler nights I envision this cover-up turned tunic with jeans or patterned pants.
And what would everyday beachwear be without a floppy beach hat? At no other time of the year do I feel fit to wear a floppy hat than during summer (and perhaps spring). I picked up this beauty from Forever 21 and of course it’s been put to good use since. If looking for a way to deal with bad hair days and greasy roots, a beach hat is an absolute must throughout summer.
Let’s not forget ’em gladiator sandals, either. Do you ever regret not buying multiples of an item you just love? That’s how I feel about these sandals – they came in beige and black in addition to the brown seen here and I so wish I would have bought them all last summer from Call It Spring.
To finish off the outfit, I tossed on a couple of surf shop souvenirs purchased on rare vacationing moments (I’d hardly call myself a traveller).
How do you rock beachwear as everyday wear?
