Fall merits adventures of sorts, wouldn’t you say? In the past six months my life has been nothing but adventure, after adventure, after adventure and this season has thus far proven to be full of them, too. But life is all about new experiences, and I like to think that this same logic applies to fashion as well. That’s why I’ve come to embrace my inner hipster with fall layering.
Cue moody hues, casual but totally premeditated coordinates and a flat-brimmed hat (because obv/obvs/obvi).’
True story – I acquired said chapeau for free via a coworker. A wool hat is totally a wardrobe staple and one that I was lacking, so you know I just had to put it use right away. And, of course, so too is a denim jacket a wardrobe staple. I recently purchased this number from H&M (click here) and I’ve had it on repeat almost daily.
But the best thing about a denim jacket? Its versatility, of course. For this particular look, I paired it with an oversized plaid button-down. I love its moody colour palette and the way it drapes, too. And because fall is all about ’em layers, a basic grey tee functions as an epic base.
I like to balance out lose-fitting shirts with form-fitting bottoms, hence a pair of leggings and OTK boots (of which I’ve previously blogged about, see here and here). They’re now going on season two and I swear they’ve gotten better with age (as have I, ~ba dum tss~).
To complete this look, I opted for my BaubleBar Lariat Choker (also featured here). I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – this is likely one of the most versatile jewelry pieces in my collection. I chose to wear it as a bow with this particular ensemble as it lends a touch of femininity (sans frills). P.S. It now comes in three different colours, like hello!
Share with me your fall layering tips in the comments below and until next time, later days!
