The one constant in life is change and that includes my hair. Yet, somehow I always find my way back to black. In fact, January saw my recent return to the dark side. Of course, with coloured hair also comes colour maintenance (and a whole lot of it, too). Cue the L’Oréal Colour Vibrancy hair care line. With an anti-oxidant, UV filter and ceramide (a complex that helps mend damaged and processed hair fibers), this L’Oréal line promises up to 60 days of sealed-in colour vibrancy – so I’ve put it to the test.
While I absolutely love black hair, I’m not all too keen on colour fade-out. Over time, black tends to lose its depth and luster. For me, this means a fairly restrictive hair care routine; limited UV exposure, infrequent washes (I’m talking once to twice a week at most) and colour-safe products only.
I’ve been using the L’Oréal Colour Vibrancy hair care line for the past few weeks and I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the results. Although I coloured my hair using semi-permanent hair dye, I’ve noticed minimal colour fade-out with the use of this particular L’Oréal line.
Nonetheless, the shampoo does contain SLS (sodium laureth sulfate), which is a toxic chemical found in many personal hygiene products. As I’ve made a conscious effort to avoid products containing SLS (that includes body wash and toothpaste too), I’ve since discontinued my use of the L’Oréal Colour Vibrancy shampoo.
In addition to a shampoo and conditioner, there’s also a post-colour repair mask. It’s thick, rich and definitely nourishing – minus the heavy residue. I also love the light fragrance of this line – it’s a good measure of flowery and sweet without being overbearing.
