Historically, my summers have been a whole lot of whatever, so that’s exactly why I’m happily welcoming a new month and a new season. Call it my Canadian roots, but I relish the cooler temperatures and with it, deep hues too. It comes as no surprise, then, that I’m crushing on the Mary Kay Fall 2017 Color Collection (check it out the full collection here). From berry rich tones (get it?!) to sultry, smoky shades, the collection is all about seasonal indulgence.

Eye Color Palettes

I love the idea of micro makeup palettes – for someone like me who travels to and fro, being able to carry a compact eye shadow palette is not only practical, but necessary. The Mary Kay Eye Color Palettes come in both warm and cool tones – perfect for both day and night looks. I did, however, find some of the darker shades in both palettes to be a bit chalky, but overall they delivered decent pigment with just one swipe.

Lip Suede

When it comes to lipsticks I look for pigment, comfort and longevity. The Mary Kay Lip Suede lipsticks provide a semi-matte finish while delivering rich pigment. Though the formula errs on the tacky side, in terms of staying power they’re ~supes~ durable and the color payoff is really real guys.

Nail Lacquer

To know me is to know that I always have my nails done. Come hell or high water, you can bet I’m rocking a mani 99.9% of the time. So when it comes to nail polish I’m a bit of stickler. For me, it’s more than just the formula itself (which should be pigmented, of course, but not too thick as I’d rather build up the color with multiple layers rather than wait on drying time) – it’s about the brush too. I can’t tell you how many brands don’t get this right. Either the brush is too wide, the bristles too long – you name it! With the Mary Kay Nail Lacquer I’m happy to say that the brush is justtt right. While I did find the shade Violet Silk to chip a little more readily than the lighter shades in the collection, overall I get a solid three to four days of wear sans chipping. Remember it’s all about the base coat and top coat too!
