For me, the holidays are all about the classics; red, gold and metallic tend to dominate my holiday beauty and style looks. And so I bring to you my holiday favourites. They’re oldies but goodies – in my mind, you can’t steer wrong with classic pieces!
Gold chain necklace
It makes a statement without being overly bold – although I have no problem with being bold, of course – this gold chain necklace pretty much suits any style of dress or shirt, I can’t honestly recall the number of times I’ve worn it, particularly throughout the holiday season. And when paired with a red lip it really does add that ‘wow’ factor. I purchased this necklace from Call It Spring in 2013, but it’s still sold today (and it’s on sale!).
It goes without saying that a red lip is a true holiday classic! Of course, nailing a shade worthy to be called a ‘classic red’ is another story all on its own. I lucked out with this one – I saw it on a friend and purchased it immediately. It’s Sephora’s Cream Lip Stain in Always Red. It’s staying power is strong, it goes on like a gloss and dries to a matte finish. I do recommend applying a basic lip balm before use as I find it helps keep lips moist and prolongs wear.
Metallic nail polish
I absolutely love a metallic nail for the holidays. This is partly because glitter polish is a serious pain to remove. Essie’s Sable Collar, as part of Essie’s 2013 Winter Collection, is one of my favourite nail polishes of all time. It gives a sheen without looking tacky.
Every girl’s gotta have a pair of holiday-worthy heels – these are mine. I purchased these babies from Aldo, circa 2010? 2011? (I really can’t recall a specific year, but it was some time around then). I pull them out every year for the holidays and they never cease to fail me. They’ve got that touch of shimmer and as they’re black they pretty much go with anything. And, of course, they’re ultra cute, no?
Gold eye shadow
I love goooold! A cream shadow really is the way to go for the holidays. This one here was gifted to me by my cousin and I absolutely adore it. It’s Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow in My Two Cents. It gives the perfect touch of shimmer and because it’s a cream base it really does last all day and, of course, it doesn’t crease! I wore it here with a dark brown shadow blended in my crease.
There you have it! My go-to holiday faves are all things shimmery and pretty. What are some of your holiday beauty and style favourites.
