NYX Cosmetics is the CBB featured February brand and just so happens to be one of my more recent beauty brand discoveries. After using multiple NYX products I can certainly attest to the quality and affordability that this cosmetics line delivers. Sadly, Target was my one-stop shop for all things NYX – with their Canada-wide closures, however, I’m afraid my newest makeup love affair has become quite strained (and as you can probably see I am in need of new concealer!). I can’t quite recall exact prices, but in any case all items featured here were purchased for $12 CAD or less.
Pictured here is ‘Fortune Cookie’. In fact, all of NYX’s Butter Glosses are deliciously named after a dessert, so as you can imagine the scent can be likened to all things yummy. Better yet, I enjoy the smooth, semi-sticky (but not too sticky) application of this gloss. In terms of wear I get about 2 hours worth until it’s sheen begins to lessen, but I think that’s relatively standard for a gloss. As for pigment Fortune Cookie is a semi-opaque nude gloss, I like to pair it over top a nude lipstick for maximum ‘nude’ effect.
Pictured here is NYX’s Matte Bronzer in ‘Medium’. It’s perfect for my tanned skin but I do find when not tanned I need to ensure I’m not packing it onto my cheeks too heavily. Let’s just say a little goes a long way. Its staying power is strong – I get all day wear (I’m talking 9+ hours).
I absolutely love this concealer! It’s super lightweight but offers high coverage. Pictured here is the shade ‘Glow’. It covers my all-too-frequent eye bags and around-the-nose redness. I have oily combination skin but I found that this concealer didn’t worsen that problem. On the down side, I found I ran out of product pretty quickly. The wand is convenient but I use a brush to apply my concealer so a pump-tube would be a nice option.
I can really appreciate a highly-pigmented eye pencil that glides on ever-so-smoothly and this NYX eye pencil does just that. I use it on my waterline and sometimes on my upper lid – it stays all day without smudging though of course when I do smudge it over my lid it does so with ease and with no flaking whatsoever.
NYX’s Collection Noir is the stuff of dreams. Pictured here is the Liquid Black Liner. The precision brush tip offers a lot of versatility, allowing you the option of thin and wispy or thick and dramatic. I’ve already had this product for about two months and I haven’t noticed any fading at all (which is typically the case with most liquid liners – after a few weeks the product begins to appear faded on the eye). That’s it for my NYX collection (so far, at least). I hope you too will discover the awesomeness that is NYX!
