Around this time of year – ahem, winter – I tend to focus a little more on my skincare routine. While I simply splash my face with cool water in the A.M., (more as a wake-me-up than anything else), in the P.M. I go all-out with my skincare routine, starting with Bioderma Sébium H2O cleansing and makeup removing water.
With it’s fresh scent, hypoallergenic, paraben-free and non-comedogenic formula, Bioderma Sébium H2O allows me to gently but effectively remove my makeup pre-cleanser. If, like me, you wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis, it really helps to use an all-over makeup remover prior to cleansing your face so that the cleanser can really do its job.
Following makeup removal, I then use Neutrogena’s Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser – it’s hypoallergenic, paraben, soap and dye-free and non-comedogenic. I’ve rarely strayed from this product, largely because it’s SLS-free. As far as I’m concerned, SLS has to be one of the worst additives in cleansers, shampoos and toothpastes today, so I try to avoid it at all costs when purchasing beauty products.
I absolutely love Yes To – I’ve been using the Yes To Carrots shampoo and conditioner for some time and their Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub (which is petroleum, SLS, paraben and cruelty-free) has been a great addition to my skincare routine. It smells good enough to eat (but don’t, of course) and while its gentle enough for daily use, I use it as a once to twice a week facial exfoliant without using the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser beforehand.
Kiehl’s products may run you a pretty penny, but they’re worth every cent. A 250ml bottle of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner lasts me an entire year as too does a 125ml bottle of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion. While a toner isn’t necessary for everyone, it’s an integral part of my skincare routine. I just love how easily it picks up excess dirt and oils, really allowing moisturizer to do its job.
A little bit of this product goes a long way. I simply dab it on my forehead, in between my eyebrows (where I tend to get dry), cheeks and chin then massage it into my skin. Given that my schnoz is rather oily, I love how it moisturizes without leaving my nose overly-slick.
I finish off my skincare routine with Caryl Baker Visage’s Pro-Restore Eye Cream, which is actually more like a serum. All it takes is a light squeeze of the tube and a couple of gentle pats around the eye area. Like Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner and Lotion, a little goes a long way.
All in my skincare routine takes me about 5 minutes – there’s nothing quite like hitting the hay with a fresh, clean face, wouldn’t you say?
