A not-so-impromptu rendezvous in downtown Toronto had me like…
Feelin’ that sophisticated grunge (and sweating profusely in between photos). It may be September but summer temperatures are most definitely still here. And so, I find myself juggling my undying passion for deep, moody hues with summer styles because in 30 plus degree temperatures ain’t nobody parading around in full fledged fall wear any time soon. That being said, I can and I will always wear a vampy lip no matter the time of year.
When I stumbled upon this plaid shirt dress, I couldn’t pass it up. Come fall, I envision this shirt dress worn as a cardigan over top a loose fitting tank, black skinny jeans, booties and perhaps paired with my beloved denim jacket, too. Of course, until such weather permits, you can find me wearing it as a dress only.
For a night out, what better way to balance this otherwise casual style with an ultra sophisticated heel. When in doubt, a pointy black pump almost always does the trick wouldn’t you say?
Complement the look further with an edgy clutch that’s as cool as it is classy and you’ve got yourself a getup that’s all things sophisticated grunge.
For this look I kept it to a minimal with accessories, which I tend to do in general but when beating the heat the less I have on my body, the better.
What I love most about this look is its ability to transition from summer to fall. While sporting fall colours, the look is also made summery with a sleeveless dress as its focal point. Lest I forget a wide-brim, felt hat – there’s arguably no better accessory that says fall and summer all at once. And hats can always be counted on to accommodate for a bad hair day (or, in my case, a bad hair night).
