Since moving to NYC my skin has changed in ways I could have never anticipated. Think breakouts, dry patches and excessive oiliness. Between pollution and hormones, finding a suitable skin care routine has definitely been trying. And while I’ve never placed much value in modifying the products I use come the turn of the season, if this city has taught me anything it’s that adjustments are not only important, they’re necessary (#amen). Lo and behold my springtime skin care routine. Let’s get started, shall we?
Step 1: Cleanser
After removing my eye makeup, I use the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. I find their cleanser gentle enough for daily use as well as moisturizing, although I do require a few pumps to fully remove my makeup.
Step 1.5: Exfoliant
While I only use the Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder once to twice a week, it works wonders on my skin. It starts as a powder and lathers into a gentle foam with a bit water.
Step 2: Toner
Following cleansing and/or exfoliating, I use Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner. It’s truly become a mainstay in my skin care routine – I apply it with a cotton pad prior to moisturizing.
Step 3: Moisturizer
I’ve adopted a serious love for moisturizer. In fact, I moisturize both morning and night (in the past I moisturized only at night). In the P.M. I use the Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich, while in the A.M. I use Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer.
Step 4: Eye Serum
I complete my springtime skin care routine with a lightweight eye serum – the Caudalie Resveratrol Life Eye Lifting Balm is the one I’m currently using. It’s rich yet non-greasy, making it well-suited for daily, warm-weather use.
