Autumn is by far my favorite season. Every year, I anxiously await its arrival – I love the fashion, beauty and, generally speaking, the activities, too. The thought of spending my first Fall in the City consumes me with an unspeakable sense of happiness (cue all the cool/fun/fab New Yorker tingz). And while the season may welcome deep hues, a pop of bright colour is always necessary (when it comes to makeup, at least).
In fact, there’s little I love more than a dramatic pout come Fall, which is why the YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain is all kinds of wonderful (Sephora link here). While I most often opt for a matte lip, gloss goes a long way, too – that’s why YSL’s new stain has proven itself to be a staple in my lip game rotation.
Its creamy formula lends plenty of pigment and coverage in just a few strokes. While a tackier texture (which, yes, sometimes creates many a ‘hair glued to the lips’ scenario) it glides on smoothly while providing comfortable, all-day wear (and by all-day, I mean any given workday, FYI).
Upon my initial use of the YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain, I was most impressed by how comfortable it felt on the lips. More often than not, a gloss tends to weigh heavily on my lips which is why I most often wear it for nighttime outings only (when I know eating will be kept to a minimum, etc.). With this product, however, I find it quite comfortable for day wear, too.
Another high point for me is its diamond shaped applicator – it ideally contours to the lips, allowing for even and effortless coverage. I do wish, however, that it came in a greater breadth of shades (i.e. nudes). Most of the YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain hues are rather dramatic.
Likely on your mind at the mo: sooo what makes this a stain and not a gloss? Even when the gloss is fully removed (in this case I removed it with toilet paper, though think post-lunch eats) it leaves behind a smooth and subtle stain that, as you can see, is really quite flattering.
Product aside, I’d be amiss if I didn’t pay mind to the compact and ~sexy~ design of YSL’s Vinyl Cream Lip Stain. YSL never fails to makes an impression when it comes their packaging (particularly when it comes to lip products) and this product is certainly no exception.
